April 27, 2022

Regarding End of the Year Senior Activities

Dear IPoly Senior Students & Parents,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you and your family of the planned activities scheduled for the Class of 2022, and to answer the questions that are most often asked by parents. The final months and weeks of this senior year can be filled with anticipation and excitement for graduates, their parents and the school. We hope that these final months will be satisfying for you and your senior, culminating with commencement on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

During this time, there are many activities, which require students to behave in a reasonable and responsible manner. Therefore, we are using this opportunity to communicate our standards clearly. We are confident that our seniors and their parents will appreciate those expectations concerning the end of the year activities. The faculty and staff at IPoly High School wish to take this early opportunity to thank you for your continued cooperation during these important days.

Here’s a list of important information about senior events and activities:

Celebratory Items
Since this is a theater, we want to be very respectful of the other families sitting around you as to not block the vision of seeing their graduate on stage and throughout the ceremony. The following items are prohibited and will not be allowed in the theater. (We will have an area at check in which they can be held until after the ceremony.)
• Prohibited: Signs, banners, balloons, noise makers, confetti, anything that may block the viewing of other families
• Encouraged: Loud cheering for your student, wreaths and cultural celebratory wear to give to your student after the ceremony, flowers
Caps & Gowns
• You should have already indicated if you were purchasing or borrowing a cap and gown.
           • Attire will be delivered to IPoly by Wednesday May 25, 2022 and distributed to students.
           • Students may NOT decorate their cap for graduation ceremony.
           • All students will be wearing (cap, gown, IPoly medallion, Class of 2022 stole and tassel.) During the ceremony only approved cords can be worn.
There will be a fabulous photo spot set up on the regal theater stairs for students to take pictures after the ceremony with whatever celebratory articles the family wishes.
You will need to take your graduation attire out of the bag and hang it to remove the wrinkles at least two days before the ceremony.
The shade of the gown changed; students will not be able to use gowns from previous ceremonies prior to 2016.

IPoly Administration is asking parents and guardians to assist in communicating to our seniors a few pertinent reminders to make the end of the year run smoothly.
• At the end of the year, all colleges ask the high school to send a discipline account and specifically ask if the student has been caught cheating during their senior year. The grounds for rescinding college acceptance roughly follows three areas.
1) A senior must maintain the same academic standard (grades) as when applying. If grades drop significantly, you will either be asked to explain the grade or have your college acceptance revoked.
2) Academic Dishonesty or Academic Integrity (did you cheat on assignments or tests and were you suspended) is the second most common reason for colleges to rescind acceptance.
3) Being suspended for violating the Student Code of Conduct or having any criminal charges brought against you is grounds for rescinding your offer of admission. (Most common: violating school rules in regards to drug use or possession, being at school events under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using tobacco on school property)
We look forward to celebrating with our students, as they prepare to graduate and continue their life’s journey. Please help us make this last month of their senior year positive and memorable. If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at (909) 839-2320.
All the best,
Mrs. Ginger Merritt-Paul Principal, IPoly HS
