Softball Recap for Saturday, March 15th

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rowland, Southlands Christian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Avalon Lancers 17-2.  As for second Saturday game, the Southlands Christian Eagles blew past the Avalon Lancers 14-1. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won seven in a row.

Natalia Bargas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Taya Marvel was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Lopez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Southlands Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Southlands Christian's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.2 runs.
