    Course Description

Two instructors run the Foreign Language Department: Ms. Poskitt and Ms. Anticona.

The IPoly Foreign Language graduation requirement is two years. However, it is highly recommended that students who are planning on applying/attending a UC school should complete three years of Foreign Language. In order to give students the opportunity to reach this goal, IPoly currently offers three UC-approved Spanish courses. Freshmen take Spanish 1, sophomores take Spanish 2, and juniors may take Spanish 3.

All IPoly Spanish courses pay equal attention to developing four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), with a special emphasis on the oral aspects of the Spanish language.  This means that students need constant exposure to the Spanish language.  In class, the teachers provide comprehensible input, wherein Spanish is spoken constantly with appropriate explanations and guidance to ensure comprehension.

Both teachers are avid travelers and feel that it is essential to expose others to culture and adventure, new flavors and new accents. Each year, there is an opportunity for students to travel abroad.
