Thank you for your interest in IPoly. The application for the 2019-20 school year is currently available.
When to Apply
Students apply in 8th grade to enter as freshmen. Students transfering from other high schools should submit high school transcripts for review prior to applying to determine eligibility (spaces are limited).
Beginning late January, entrance exams will be given on weekends to students that meet minimum entry requirements (see application for details). Incoming freshmen and transfer students are required to pass the entrance exam in order to move forward in the application process.
8th grade students that pass the entrance exam will enter a lottery drawing, held the week of April 15, 2019. 136 freshman students will be selected for the 2019-20 school year. After the lottery, applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once spaces are filled, a waiting list will be created.
The deadline for incoming freshmen to apply and enter the lottery for 2019-20 school year admission is March 15, 2019. After March 15, applications will continue to be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
IPoly accepts applications from students that are transferring from other high schools year-round on a first come, first served basis. Acceptance of high school transfer students is contingent on whether IPoly has openings, due to pre-existing waiting lists.
Due to the high volume of applications, patience is greatly appreciated. Applicants will be notified via mail regarding any missing documents. Eligible students with completed applications will be invited to an entrance exam.
Spaces are limited to 136 students per grade level. Once 136 students are drawn via lottery, remaining student names will then be drawn to create a waiting list. Students placed on the waiting list will be contacted once there is an opening.
The waiting list will be valid through the next school year. Students that do not get in as freshmen will have an option to reapply for the following year, and maintain their ranking on the waiting list; they will not have to re-test.
IPoly does not charge tuition, however, students must apply and meet eligibility requirements (including a two-year 2.5 academic GPA, acceptable discipline history, and recommendations), and pass an entrance exam. Detailed requirements are explained in the application. Students that are accepted that live outside of Los Angeles County will need an approved inter-district transfer permit to attend (details will be sent to students upon acceptance).
