When to Apply
Students apply in 8th grade to enter as freshmen. Students transfering from other high schools should submit high school transcripts for review prior to applying to determine eligibility (spaces are limited).
The deadline for incoming freshmen to apply for the 2019-20 school year is March 15, 2019.
IPoly accepts applications from students that are transferring from other high schools year-round on a first come, first served basis. Acceptance of high school transfer students is contingent on whether IPoly has openings, due to pre-existing waiting lists.
Due to the high volume of applications, patience is greatly appreciated. Applicants will be notified via mail regarding any missing documents. Eligible students with completed applications will be invited to an entrance exam.
Beginning late January, entrance exams will be given on weekends to students that meet minimum entry requirements (see application for details). Entrance exam test results will be mailed home within four weeks of testing. Incoming freshmen and transfer students are required to pass the entrance exam to move into the lottery drawing.
A lottery drawing will be held the week of April 15, 2019 to select incoming freshman students for the 2018-19 school year. To be entered into the drawing, students must pass the entrance exam. After the lottery, applications continue to be accepted for the waiting list.
Spaces are limited to 136 students per grade level. Once 136 students are drawn via lottery, remaining student names will then be drawn to create a waiting list. Students placed on the waiting list will be contacted once there is an opening.
The waiting list will be valid through the next school year. Students that do not get in as freshmen will have an option to reapply for the following year, and maintain their ranking on the waiting list; they will not have to re-test.
IPoly does not charge tuition, however, students must apply and meet eligibility requirements (including a two-year 2.5 academic GPA, acceptable discipline history, and recommendations), and pass an entrance exam. Detailed requirements are explained in the application. Students that are accepted that live outside of Los Angeles County will need an approved inter-district transfer permit to attend (details will be sent to students upon acceptance).
