It is with great excitement and pride that I have joined the IPoly family as the Dean of College Admissions.
I have had the opportunity to witness the dedication of faculty and staff to provide a top-notch learning environment. I am anticipating the start of the new school year to meet the students that make IPoly such a special place. Meeting and working with many seniors and a handful of juniors I have been impressed by their exceptional abilities and interests.
New programs and new opportunities will be a hallmark of the new school year. Starting with our College Summer Workshops, September SAT Bootcamp and Dual Enrollment program with Mt. SAC our students will be getting valuable experiences to help them reach their dreams. Parents can look forward to seminars specially designed to create family success plans as well as access to information through programs like Naviance.
As an educator for the past 15 years, I have served at both the high school and college level. Serving as a high school English teacher and College & Career Counselor and an admissions representative for the University of California system, I have gained a unique understanding of the college admission process from both sides: those seeking to be accepted and those evaluating potential students. I am constantly seeking new roles and new ways to gather information to better serve my students as they plan for college and beyond. I have also been a member of the State Board of Directors for Future Business Leaders of America as well as founding my own non-profit organization that serves first generation students and their families.
I realize the idea of preparing for and applying to college can be a scary thought, and I believe it is my role to do more than show students how to accomplish this seemingly monumental task. From freshman to seniors, I seek to build confidence and empower students to envision a positive future for themselves and provide authentic opportunities for students to realize their dreams.
Ultimately I look forward to building relationships with families in order to help students pursue their goals. Each child has their own unique set of talents and with the support of parents and school those goals are more easily attainable. I look forward to being a part of that process and can not wait to see where our students go.
